RIO Products is excited to launch our newest technique specific trout line. The Premier Bank Robber is the ultimate fly line for presenting terrestrials, stoneflies, and other large dry flies as close to the bank as possible. This is what we do all summer, it’s part of RIO’s DNA, so we decided why not build a line for one our favorite ways to fish? We all know the difficulty of trying to cast a large hopper on a line taper that isn’t capable of turning over a wind resistant fly. This can quickly lead to inaccuracy, poor presentation, and overall frustration. The Bank Robber is the solution to get the most effective and efficient presentation when it’s terrestrial time.
Chris Walker, R&D Manager of RIO Products, knows first-hand how critical this product is to an effective day on the water: “The bites we look forward to most every year on our home waters in Idaho involve big dry flies and big trout holding tight to the bank. That starts with stoneflies in May and continues, uninterrupted, through hoppers in September. The Bank Robber evolved over years of experience and experimentation in our backyard and I’m looking forward to having one on my reel all season long.”
The Bank Robber’s expertly tuned, fine front taper enables precise, accurate casts while a rear-loaded head easily carries the bushiest salmonfly patterns. A long back taper allows for easy mending and an extended drag free drift. A unique bright green section located towards the rear of the head identifies the ideal lengths for loading the road. Finally, the Bank Robber is made with a harder SlickCast coating than our standard trout lines, making it easy to shoot even on the muggiest summer days.

In 1990, Jim and Kitty Vincent founded RIO in the mountains of Idaho on the idea that exceptional fly fishing products should be built by anglers for anglers. More than twenty five years later, we’re still in Idaho and driven by that same ethos. Most of us here are passionate fly fishing anglers, wading all day in cold, clear Idaho trout streams, lighting delicate dries and heaving huge streamers – hooking, (losing), landing, turning loose fish after fish… We won’t even mention the horror of having to battle tarpon after bonefish after permit in the balmy turquoise tropics, or braving the wrath of angry chrome in BC.
