The Deschutes River needs your help, and quick and easy action might make a big difference.
From 30/30 for the Deschutes:
The Deschutes River needs you! This beautiful river is a gift to all those who experience it. Unfortunately, the health of the river is in decline and needs all of us to come together.
The Deschutes River Basin Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP) is currently being reviewed by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, and without input from community members like you, this HCP won’t adequately increase streamflows to levels that will restore and protect the river’s natural beauty and the health of its fish and wildlife.
If enough public pressure is created during the commenting period, you could help create a more balanced HCP that will take fish, wildlife, recreation, and the entire community into consideration equally with irrigation and agriculture.
An unbalanced management plan risks continued river degradation and loss of fish, wildlife, water quality, and recreation. As a result, we lose the lifeblood of our community, culture, and economy.
