Das Boat heads to Florida to take on the waters around Sanibel Island in Episode 3 of their series from MeatEater.
“Das Boat rolls all the way over to the west coast of Florida to hook up with our very own conservation director, Ryan Callaghan and the Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge artist in residence Ed Anderson. Cal and Ed try to convert this old boat into a poling skiff and go looking for snook, tarpon, speckled trout, and redfish. Along the way they discuss the National Wildlife Refuge system, poop decks, the history of the duck stamp, Ding Darling, the queen mother of red tides, and learning to love rejection . . . from fish. #whateverfloats
Das Boat Challenge: Find Cal’s mustache! In this episode, Das Boat gets some custom artwork from Ed Anderson. Ed hid a secret homage to Cal’s fuzzy upper lip somewhere in the painting. The first ten mugs who email us with the specific location of this hidden gem win a special prize: MeatEater’s first fishing dept. shirt. Watch closely, and holler when you find it by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
MeatEater has also teamed up with artist Ed Anderson to bring you a mean-looking tarpon hoody and to call attention to water quality issues in Florida. All profits will be donated to the conservation non-profit Captains For Clean Water. Check it out here: http://bit.ly/2ZEkSzS”
