Video: March Midges in Montana

March midges in Montana! A great video from Will Phelps.

From Will Phelps:

“These insects are small in size, but large numbers of them can bring up good quantities of fish. Midges are one of the few bugs that a trout can rise to this time of year, as winter fades away.

Many anglers disregard dry fly fishing during cold temperatures of the season. In my opinion, this can be some of the greatest dry fly fishing of the year. Without seeing flies for months, the trout become desensitized to an angler’s offering. They need to beef up after withstanding a long, harsh winter. To these fish, everything looks appetizing.”
