It’s rare that a book tackles a new subject in fly fishing nowadays, but Peter McLeod has surely taken on a unique focus in his new book, GT – A Flyfisher’s Guide to Giant Trevally. The book, coming from Merlin Unwin Books, promises to be an comprehensive look at one of the most thrilling and exotic saltwater species on the globe. McLeod, a well-traveled and experienced angler, takes on giant trevally relying on his expertise as well as many of the world’s greatest experts on the fish and where they can be found.
“GT – A Flyfisher’s Guide to Giant Trevally is an all-encompassing book that covers everything you might need to know about this species and trying to catch them on a fly rod. It is a combined effort by many who have a similar passion. The book is split into two sections, the first being a guide to the species, history, where to find them, tackle and techniques, flies, fighting and release. The second half is dedicated to the different destinations they are found including anecdotal stories written by a collection of the pioneers, guides and experts that know them best.”
This is the first book dedicated to fly fishing for giant trevally, and the 224-page hardbound book with color illustrations will be available in September.
