Fly Fishing Gear: New Nautilus CCF-X2 Reel

Nautilus CCF x2

At the International Fly Tackle Dealer show in Las Vegas, Nautilus Reels has unveiled a new reel for big game lovers.

Nautilus Reels fans are adoring for many reasons, and when it comes to new products, Nautilus fans give them a nod for never releasing a new product for the sake of releasing a new product. For Nautilus, a new reel comes with new developments that justify all the hoopla.

With that, the new Nautilus CCF-X2 delivers. This new offering will replace the long-praised CCF reel that has been a beloved choice of anglers from striper fanatics in Cape Cod to flats fiends in the Keys to steelheaders in British Columbia.

Like the rest of the Nautilus line up, the CCF-X2 is both beautiful and capable. The reel will be offered in three sizes: Size 68 (WF 8 + 200 yards of #20 backing, weighs 7.6 oz.), Size 810 (WF 10 + 200 yards of #30 backing, weighs 8.6 oz.), Size 1012 (WF 12 + 250 yards of #30 backing, weighs 8.9 oz.).

When it comes to enhanced performance, Nautilus states:

“Our newest addition to the Nautilus Family: Dual action CCF-X2 drag system with twice the drag strength (20lbs+), twice the smoothness and half the startup inertia. Fully Sealed, loaded with hybrid ceramic bearings, TPX bushing and oversized drag knob with infadjust range settings.”

    1. Does this have a carbon/cork drag similar to the NV. Will they be offering giga arbor spools for it so you can put a 9 weight line on the size 810 and have a faster retrieve?
