For many, this is the time of year for Central America saltwater. In Costa Rica, anglers looking for salty critters have a range of options. Species such as tarpon, roosters, tuna, and sailfish are among the many targets available in Costa Rica, and all species are of notable size.

From No Sports Allowed is a great film (formerly a web-TV program) called The Costa Rica Challenge.

From the filmmakers:

“In the heart of Central America, 5 veracious trout fisherman, launch on a salty journey that most said couldn’t be done. One Country, Two Oceans, Three Species, 430 Kilometers all in 36 Hours.”

The result is excellent footage of fly fishing in gorgeous locales for monster fish such as sailfish and tarpon.
