Anglers take on fly fishing for trout in Sweden in a new video from Loop.

“Fly fishing for wild brown trout and sea trout in southern Sweden is the focus for Ep. 9 of Loop’s fly fishing series. This time, Emilie travels to Skåne to explore some of Scandinavia’s finest brown trout and sea trout fly fishing, while discovering what it takes to sustain healthy populations of wild trout (Salmo trutta).
From surprisingly large resident trout thriving in small, productive streams to anadromous sea-run trout along Sweden’s rugged coastline, Skåne offers a diverse range of world-class fly fishing opportunities. That’s mainly thanks to decades of dedicated conservation work carrried out by local anglers, clubs, and organizations since the 1940s.
Along the way, Emilie visits scientist, lifelong angler, and conservation advocate Anders Persson on his home water, hoping to experience the season’s first major Danica hatch. She also joins her good friend and fly-fishing expert Richard Larsson as he takes her to some of his favorite coastal spots in search of the region’s renowned sea trout.
Emilie’s journey continues at the productive Nybroån, where she meets researcher Herman Forsberg to learn more about the river’s thriving trout population. She also spends time with Göran Larsson from Ystadortens Fiskevårds- och Sportfiskeförening, an inspiring organisation whose members have spent more than 80 years protecting, restoring, and improving trout habitat throughout the region.”
