From Wade Well:
The Wade Well Online Class Studio opens with 75+ on-demand classes, addressing the need for functional movement, mobility, performance, and recovery programming that aims to keep anglers, guides, and destination travelers fishing the way they want to pain-free and with greater longevity.
Bozeman, Montana – Wade Well, the functional movement and mobility method built specifically for anglers, announces the launch of the Wade Well Online Class Studio : the first on-demand training platform designed around the real physical demands of fishing, guiding, and destination travel.
The studio opens with over 75 classes covering movement, mobility, athletic performance, prehab, nervous system management, and recovery, all structured around the specific patterns and demands that fishing and guiding creates in the body. New classes across categories are added monthly. Sessions run from five to thirty minutes and require minimal equipment, making them practical for use at home, at the lodge, at the boat launch, or at the airport during long lay-overs.
THE PROBLEM
Joint pain, diminished mobility, and the physical fallout of sedentary modern life are not just personal health issues, they’re barriers to participation in the sport.
Anglers and guides increasingly report that pain, fatigue, and limited mobility are cutting their time on the water short. Destination travelers arrive for high-output saltwater trips or backcountry days unprepared for the physical and cognitive demands and athletic performance needed, and without a clear protocol to implement during their trip. Full-time fishing guides, whose bodies are their professional tools, accumulate overuse injuries, compensation patterns, and soft tissue wear over the course of long seasons with no structured recovery protocol in place.
While we see many programs that have been created for outdoor recreation, the fitness industry has never built anything to specifically address the demands of anglers and guides. Generic programming doesn’t account for casting mechanics, full seasons of rowing or poling, wading stability, long days standing on a drift boat or casting from a platform, the neurological fatigue of technical fishing, or the recovery demands of back-to-back days in taxing terrain.
Wade Well founder Lindsay Kocka has spent the past fifteen years working in the movement, mobility, and recovery field – training everyday people seeking pain relief and functional freedom alongside competitive athletes and outdoor professionals. Additionally, she’s an avid angler who understands the physicality of the sport from a personal perspective. That breadth of experience informs the Wade Well method: evidence-based, practical, and built for real people navigating real life conditions.
“We’re living within a modern day epidemic surrounding the loss of functional movement, and it’s costing people their ability to do the things that matter most to them,” said Kocka. “For many anglers and guides, fishing isn’t just recreation. It’s connection to the outdoors, to community, to purpose and self-identity, to stronger mental health, and to the stewardship of our fisheries. When pain and loss of movement capacity takes that away, we lose something much larger than a day on the water. I created Wade Well with the simple goal to help people to participate in the sport and culture for a lifetime.”
THE PHILOSOPHY
At the core of the Wade Well method is a belief that outdoor engagement, and fishing in particular, is one of the most powerful tools people have for staying active, building community, maintaining mental health and managing stress, and sustaining a tangible connection with the natural world. Fishing creates stewards, it keeps people moving dynamically, and it builds intergenerational relationships and a shared investment in healthy ecosystems.
But sustaining that engagement requires taking care of the body that makes it possible. The Wade Well Online Class Studio was built on three principles: access, longevity, and staying connected – to the sport, to the water, and to the communities built around it.
The studio addresses what Kocka sees as a genuine gap in how movement training reaches people: too much complexity, too much intimidation, too much time required, and too much financial investment. The result is that most anglers end up doing nothing at all until they begin to experience serious pain, injury, or comprehensive loss of mobility.
“Most people don’t need more pressure to take care of their bodies; I think we’re all acutely aware that we need to move more and be more proactive. The problem is that there isn’t a strong entry point that’s been created where anglers and guides can say “Oh, this was designed for me, and it’s perfectly manageable to start right now.” What they need is something that’s simple, effective, efficient, and built for the life they actually live. Five to thirty minutes with minimal equipment is what I consider to be one of the best solutions. The studio is meant to offer a way into movement, mobility, and recovery work, where members can build consistency and confidence, and then progress it as they see fit.”

- Movement Sessions : movement that spans balance and coordination, full-body ground exploration, as well as athletic flow sequences for those who want to move more dynamically
- Pre-Sleep/Nervous System Management Sessions: evidence-based sensory resets and breath work for high-output and high-stress days, with an emphasis on supporting sleep health and down-regulation
- Recovery Sessions : soft tissue care, joint restoration, science based stretching strategies and self-myofascial release work
ABOUT THE METHOD
The Wade Well Method is an evidence-based movement and recovery system developed by Lindsay Kocka – a Functional Range Conditioning mobility specialist, MovNat natural movement coach, Yoga Medicine practitioner, and functional strength trainer with fifteen years of professional experience.
Kocka’s background spans two parallel tracks: working with everyday people seeking relief from chronic pain, movement limitations, and the physical demands of daily life, and working with outdoor athletes and professionals whose performance and livelihood depend on their physical capacity. The Wade Well method draws from both, combining the rigor of functional training with the practical accessibility required for real-world use.
The method integrates joint-specific mobility and capacity training, functional strength and movement efficiency, breath mechanics and nervous system regulation, recovery strategies and tissue care, and skill acquisition principles applied to outdoor environments. It has been taught in fly fishing schools, on hosted trips, within private sessions, and via online presentations for clubs, groups, and organizations for seven years. It’s designed to offer something for everyone, regardless of age, fitness level, or approach to angling.
