Fly fishing for smallmouth bass in Michigan! Great angling action on poppers and streamers.
From Trouts:
“Last month, Rick Mikesell and Ivan Orsic made the cross-country voyage to meet up with Midwest fly fishing legend in the making – Mike Schultz (aka Schultzy). The goal? To get a taste of some of the best warmwater fly fishing the state of Michigan has to offer. Our first day was spent riding the waves on Lake St. Clair in search of Muskellunge (more on that later). The final two days on the boat were spent in Schultzy’s boat. We trying to put the pieces of the 20” smallmouth bass puzzle – fishing topwater and streamers in an attempt to fool a big (and old) smallmouth bass on the fly.
Want to learn more about Schultzy, check out the most recent episode of our shop podcast – The CURRENT – where Rick and Ivan sit down and talk all things Michigan warmwater and his journey through the world of fly fishing. Excerpts of the aforementioned podcast were included in this edit.”
