Video: A Look at the Eel River in “Return To Abundance”

Eel River- Return To Abundance from California Trout on Vimeo.

CalTrout has released a film short that looks at the ecological health of the Eel River in Northern California.

From CalTrout:

“The last century has been hard on the Eel. Population growth, logging, mining, increasing demand for water, and now climate change. The Eel River ecosystem is compromised, and the salmon have suffered. The Eel River has that capacity to heal, and to once again flourish. The wild fish are there, and ready to thrive.
The last century has been hard on the Eel. Population growth, logging, mining, increasing demand for water, and now climate change. The Eel River ecosystem is compromised, and the salmon have suffered.
But the Eel is resilient, has shown signs of recovery, and has the ability to thrive once again. The Eel presents the best opportunity to restore historic fish abundance in California. CalTrout is leading the way with a headwaters-to-sea approach to restoring and preserving something truly wild in California.”
