Lake Tahoe Fish Relocation: Fanny Bridge from Peter Spain on Vimeo.
Ever wonder what’s in that deep pool or what’s up against that no access dam? Some lucky anglers this week were able to find out what the Truckee River was holding at the Fanny Bridge dam, and what they discovered was well received!
From the video maker:
“The Fanny bridge dam has always been a staple of Tahoe City, even more so is the famous fish that have resided in the protected waters just below the dam, they are monster Brown and Rainbow Trout. Due to the extreme California drought, water no longer flows from the lakes natural rim and these special fish were in dire need of help due to low oxygen and no water flow. In a historic meeting between the Trout Unlimited Truckee 103 division and the California Dept. of Fish and Wildlife, they were able to get the majority of trout out by hook and line. With a dozen of CDFW employees on hand and a dozen of Tahoe/Truckee’s finest fly fisherman, they steadily landed 30 fish throughout the day which were given a new home in Lake Tahoe shortly after.”
