Protecting Morro Bay Estuary Steelhead

Sadly, it’s a familiar story: Steelhead are an incredible fish specie, their population in an area has dwindled to the brink of extinction, and the problem and solution are both in our hands (and time is running out). In the video above, the focus of this all too familiar story is on the Morro Bay Estuary.

From Morro Bay Estuary:

“Each year, local steelhead make the journey from fresh to saltwater by means of the Morro Bay Estuary. But over the past several decades, their population numbers have been steadily declining. Check out our video to learn more about this awesome fish and find out what you can do to help conserve water and ensure this species remains safe in Morro Bay!”

  1. Brought a tear to my eyes! Here’s to keeping up the good work! Sure is a familiar story though. I’m afraid to say Morro Bay/Central California Steelies are pretty much ghost now…been that way for years. Respect to these folks and the good people like them for fighting the fight, as uphill as it seems.
