More on this destination:
Bordering Colorado and Montana, Wyoming offers similar world-class mountainous fly fishing opportunities in picturesque settings. In fact, many of the best known Wyoming rivers are rivers also treasured by the other states they run through.
In southern Wyoming, the North Platte River offers anglers opportunities for trophy trout, often attracting anglers from Colorado to sections such as Grey Reef and the Miracle Mile, where double-digit fish are often on the minds of visitors to the river. Just to the west, the Green River gives anglers incredible float trip opportunities that allow access to spectacular canyon fly fishing.
In northwest Wyoming, the Snake River is famous for its magnificent Grand Tetons backdrop immortalized by Ansel Adams, and is equally treasured for its strain of cutthroat trout. The Snake River is great for float trips, and much if the river is easily accessed from the banks. Nearby Yellowstone National Park also has a network of rivers from the Firehole to the Madison that are highly regarded by fly anglers.
There are many more prized fisheries in Wyoming, and of course, there are many backcountry rivers and lakes that anglers can access for both wild trout and solitude.
