A new offering for 2013 from RIO Products is the Bonefish QuickShooter line.
Introduced for 2013 at the annual International Fly Tackle Dealer Show (IFTD) in Reno, the Bonefish QuickShooter won the award for the Best New Saltwater Fly Line for 2013, and for many flats anglers, this addition to the RIO line-up (pun intended!) is a welcomed addition.
The Bonefish QuickShooter line joins the RIO Bonefish line in the catalog of RIO offerings for bonefish, and we have had the pleasure of casting both lines.
The RIO Bonefish line is a smooth-casting line with a long head that allows for the most delicate presentation for the more finicky fish. When it comes to delivering a fly in stealth, this is the line.
However, for anglers who seek tools to better fight the wind and want to quickly load their rod, the Bonefish QuickShooter might be the ticket. Tested by anglers with strong, but less than professional casting abilities, the Bonefish QuickShooter more easily allowed for beautiful casts that traveled greater distances with ease. In fact, Bonefish QuickShooter allowed for nearly effortless casting at long distances, and the line was also superior at short distances, when it was necessary to quickly cast spooled line. This is largely due to the the shorter, heavier head of the Bonefish QuickShooter.
RIO describes the line as follows:
“The Bonefish QuickShooter has a short, easy-casting head that is designed to load rods at close range and is perfect for anglers wading the flats, for fishing in low light conditions and for novice/occasional saltwater anglers. The unique taper design allows for quick, short-range casts when necessary, yet delivers fast, accurate casts and turns over large flies with ease.
The Bonefish QuickShooter features AgentX technology which ensures the line floats high, is easy to pick up and keeps the running line afloat. A medium-stiff core and hard, tropical coating prevents the line from wilting in tropical heat, and welded loops in both ends allow anglers to change leaders and rig with lightning speed and ease. RIO’s DualTone color system marks the sweet spot of the line and the aqua blue/sand color helps with stealth presentations.”
