#venturingangler #flyfishing We have previously given praise to the extraordinary steelheading found in the Tongass National Forest in Alaska. Now Chrome Chasers is offering an incredible rate for the week of April 7-13 (three spaces). For $4,000 (rather than the normal $5,000 rate), anglers can take on the truly special steelheading experience that this region offers. (Impressive rate!)
The Tongass National Forest is a lush rainforest with extraordinary opportunities to sight-fish for steelhead as they access the first couple miles of river from the salt. The steelhead can get heavy in this area, and anglers get a unique remote experience.
Anglers will stay at a lodge on the ocean in Wrangell and take a 33-foot offshore boat out everyday to access the streams via a zodiac or small jet sled. Chrome Chasers has permits on 13 different streams, and with two clients with one guide, anglers fish different streams each day. According to guide, Rick Matney, “This limits our pressure on the fish in the systems and gives each client the most possible shots.”
The remote nature of this trip is also special. For Matney, “The idea of having such a huge area all to yourself is pretty amazing. In the last 10 years I have only seen two other people fishing. I am the only outfitter permitted to guide the streams.”
This might be the rate of a lifetime, and anglers otherwise just need airfare to Wrangell and a fishing license.
If you’re interested in this incredible rate on an extraordinary fly fishing trip, please click here or call Chrome Chasers at (406) 209-2457, and be certain to mention The Venturing Angler. (Spaces are limited.)

#venturingangler #flyfishing Jako Lucas is probably best known for taking on new destinations in distant lands and introducing anglers to exotic and exciting fly fishing destinations and species. Last year, Jako, Josh Hutchins, Keith Rose-Innes, Christiaan Pretorius, and Jimmy Laverty ventured to Australia for what ultimately became the trip of a lifetime and the focus of a new film, “Glorious Bastards.” Jako recently sat down to discuss the trip in an interview with The Venturing Angler.
