Inspired by the author’s experience of raising her daughter, Adelaide, and sharing stories with her in and about the outdoors, The World Through Your Eyes is a heartwarming story that inspires children to see beauty in everyday adventures.
The book is intended to offer numerous valuable lessons. “The World Through Your Eyes is more than just a story—it’s a reminder of how much we can learn from the little ones in our lives,” she states. “For children, I hope it instills confidence, showing them that their perspectives matter. For adults, I hope it serves as a gentle nudge to appreciate life’s simple joys.”
Each page of the book includes watercolor illustrations by artist Diane Michelin, an acclaimed wildlife artist known for her gentle, nature-rich illustrations. “When it came time to find an illustrator, Diane Michelin was at the top of my list,” says Vokey. “A longtime collector of her work, I love her style and dedication to the outdoors and angling community. In true form, she has helped bring this project to life, using actual photos from Adelaide’s and my adventures as the foundation for each painting. Every illustration in The World Through Your Eyes is drawn directly from our real-life experiences.”
