Nautilus Reels Announces New GTS 5/6 Reels

MIAMI (Feb. 1, 2025) — Nautilus Reels is pleased to announce the launch of their new GTS 5/6 fly fishing reels. Using advancements in reel technology announced with the unveiling of the GTS series of reels, the GTS 5/6 promises the highest level of performance in a 5/6 reel.

The GTS reels are remarkably lightweight and offer an effortless left-hand to right-hand conversion, and they have an expanded drag adjustment range and  a sleeker design than the NV-G series (which the GTS is replacing).

“We are thrilled to share the second iteration of the 4”diameter GTS reel — the GTS 5/6,” states Kristen Mustad, owner and designer at Nautilus. “Our GTS frame now can cover four line weights with two spools. To have a 4” diameter 5-weight reel will give you less line coil and fast line pickup should you have a large trout headed for the other side of Lake Thingvellir. Need to swap it for streamer duty or a bonefishing trip? Just replace the 5/6 spool with the 7/8 spool.”

The 5/6 is easily distinguishable from the 7/8 with its much larger arbor and 5/6 marking on the face of the spool. Like the 7/8 spool, the GTS 5/6 has backing markers machined into the spool as well.

Bigger, lighter, better was the drive behind the development of this series, and the GTS 5/6 is another example of how Nautilus achieved that goal.

The GTS 5/6 is currently offered in matte black and brushed titanium anodizing.

MSRP $625 for the reel and $295 for a spare spool.
