Video: Fat Wild Trout on Mouse Flies in Kamchatka

Fly Fishing for Wild Kamchatka Rainbow Trout from Tailwaters Fly Fishing Co. on Vimeo.

Friends of The Venturing Angler — Matt Jones, Oliver White, Greg Kennedy, and Christiaan Pretorius — hit the remote waters of Kamchatka (via helicopter and float trip) for big, fat, wild Russian trout that are eager to demolish mouse flies. Predators!

From Tailwaters:

“Tailwaters Staff Photographer Matt Jones and crew joined Oliver White, Christiaan Pretorius, Greg Kennedy, and others in Eastern Russia for some of the best fly fishing for trout in the world.

Kamchatka is home to some of the planet’s most remote fly fishing, and these trout are often eager to slam the surface for mouse flies. These predatory trout love mice and as a result are some of the fattest, healthiest, and hungry trout found anywhere.

Get a glimpse into some of what Kamchatka has to offer with some great drone footage and some big trout.”
